5speed swap question

so im looking at doing the 5 speed swap this weekend.i have a couple question i need answers for.....

1 i need to know if the bolts from the flex plate and the bolts for the flywheel are the same?

2 also are the bolts that hold on the clutch plate the same as the ones that hold the torch converter?

Justin

1) I honestly dont remember.

2) No they are different.

I know we had to run to Shmucks last minute and pick up bolts for... something in that general area. Cant recall what though...

You have my number, feel free to hit me up if you have any questions, the girls gonna be gone this weekend, so let me know if you'd like a hand as well

(^ that sounded gayer than I thought...)

I did this so long ago, and I don't remember all the details, however I do remember that the flywheel bolts taken from the automatic are too short for the conversion. Probably about 3/4" of an inch too short.

Yeah, I woulda run to shmucks too, but it was 2:00 a.m. when we got that far.

Overall, I would say the job went really smooth though.

Any parts store should carry some flywheel bolts. They were like 10 bucks for a set for my 4.3.
Some grade 8 bolts would probably be fine too, its not like your running crazy power or anything. But get the right ones if you can.
Same with pressure plate bolts, grade8 and call it good.

so the 5 speed is in and running, drove it to work today and the rpm at 60 where at 2650 to 2750 and at 70 at 2850 to 3000 so not too bad for gearing wise, now i just need to get some 33s and put under it,

Smile

You need to jumper the neutral safety switch.

You don`t want to ground it.
