5spd swap wiring Q for 3.0L V6
I'm in the process of doing a 5spd swap. I have the complete harness and ecu from the stnd. All the plugs work except for 1 (of course). it's a grey plug beside a white one, behind the ecu.
My guess is that it's trans related. The new one is smaller, the original was bigger. So I'm guessing it would tell my reverse lights, ADD and maybe O2 as those wires go to the trans and tcase.
What have others done with this issue? do I need to splice wires? can I leave it unplugged?

You should just use the auto setup with the 5 speed swap. If you are giong with that route then I believe you need to swap the dash harness aswell.

So... you had a auto tranny behind your '91 3.0 and now you have installed a 5spd tranny from a '90 and will be using the '90 ECM. Am I following along so far?
I just got done swapping a '96 3.4 into a '90 3.0 V6 equipped 4Runner. I retained the 5spd tranny I already had, and the 3.4 also came from a 5spd equipped vehicle. I used the 3.4 ECM and wired that into the 3.0 wiring harness.
Are projects have some similarities.
First off, I think you need to get the EWD from both your vehicle and the donor vehicle. They can be downloaded here (link) for $10 a day. Well worth the money in my opinion.
The plugs you show were labeled IH1 and IH2. A majority of these wires went to the gauges, AC, CC or various other warning lights. Once you have the EWD, you can figure out which wires your 5spd ECM will need and which to abandon.
Check out my thread here: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f160...5/index10.html
Towards the bottom of the page 10 I talk about the wiring I did with my swap. I think your ECM really only needs a few wires from this mismatched plug to operate properly. The ECM will also need to send a few signals to your gauges so you know what is going on.
But without the EWD's... I think you'll be guessing a lot and may create more troubles than you want.

I have a complete Factory manual for the truck. I went with the the 5spd harness for ease of the swap so I dont need to swap every connector to the other motor. I'm sure all the necessary wires to run the motor go to the ECM, but this connector I'm guessing you're right Elvota, does gauges, cc, a/c ect. I will sift through the wiring diagrams and see what i can figure out.
If anyone has any other input that would be great.

Do you think it would be possible to match wire colors? cut up the harness to make a adapter? Or would toyota have used different color wires from auto the manual?

Ya they change some wires colors. for the most part they are similar colors but you cant really do it like that

This thread is awesome! Im doing a 3vze swap from a 94 donor to my 90 runner and this is huge problem for me since I swapped ECM's and harnesses. With the picture above from JasonD can I find the picture from the 94 and match numbers? Or will the TIS be of more help?
