4th of July damage

Got a little hairy on some CO hills this 4th of July (Wheeler Lake). Can you guys help me assess damage? Yes I know i need lockers, and a SAS, i dream about it nightly.

Looks like the rear cross member that took the brunt of the damage is part of the lift. Saved my diff that's for sure. Anybody ever make a custom rear member skid plate? Is this going to be one of those parts I have to replace if I ever want decent alignment? Alignment seems OK but requires more steering correction than I would like.

Also if anybody has any insight as to what keeps messing up my shocks (from day 1) that would be great too. I'm thinking I need to just cut out the circled bump stop or whatever that is?

Thanks in advance guys

You did get the correct shocks with the lift?? That they are long enough??

I have seen worse damage barring any other front end problems a good alignment tech will have no problems

If you have a idea for your skid plate it can be built

I will cut you slack but this is the front differential not the rear it will be quite confusing to some I was thinking you had some home made lift that had a fabricated cross member in the area of the rear differential

Front skid plates are quite common they can extend from the front of the truck to past the transfer case depending just what you think you need

yeah i just wasn't really sure to call this cross member, as it's not the front portion of the IFS but the rear. I've noticed not all trucks or 4runners have this brace. I know it's the front diff

And I think they are the right shocks, why do they look short to you? It's only a 3 or 4" lift and I got the shocks replaced when I bought the truck at a 4x4 shop.

you could tell if it was too short by lifting the front end up, unbolting one end of the shock, and verify that it's long enough to cover the maximum amount of droop.

is the bump stop missing it's rubber stop?

i would put a floor jack under that front tire, stuff the tire as far as it'll go, and see if the shock is making contact with that bump stop mount.

if not, could the shock be getting pushed into the bump stop mount because of something loose or worn out at the a-arm pivot points?

i know nothing about ifs, i'm a sfa guy.
