4runner throttle cable installation

I ordered and received a new throttle cable for my 1990 4 runner 4wd.A/T with 3vz-e engine. My problem is where it connects to the gas pedal linkage. The existing cable has a metal piece on the end that apparently rests against the pedal linkage. On mine there is a clip that looks like it holds this end of the cable to the end of the pedal linkage. There was no clip that came with the cable and the existing clip looks pretty rusty and will probably break when I take it apart. Is this clip required.

Secondly, on the new cable, there is a piece of black rubber tubing that fits between the metal cable end and a white teflon gromet . I do not have this black rubber tubing part on my old cable....probably fell off. The question is where does it go? Which side of the pedal linkage does it go on. I am guessing it goes between the pedal linkage and the white gromet piece? Anyone have an exploded view or photo of the pedal end of the throttle cable?

Thanks
Joe
