4Runner Rear Heater ?.

My 86 4Runner is an SR5 but it didn`t come with the rear heat option, i was considering adding the rear heater and was wondering if it would be worth it or not ?, Does having the rear heater help in heating the rear of the 4Runner alot as compared to not having one ?.

Different trucks came with different packages. Not all SR5 had rear heat. But the ones that do have a different center console where the blower sits under it. I rarely use the rear heat... i think i used it twice this year actaully... unless you got kids or peeps that sit in that back it really does not make much difference in my opinion. Its not really worth getting in my opinion. Not unless you can find one in a junkyard somewhere. You may can use one from a 90's 4runner as well.

Like stated above it all depends on what ya do with it. I have a 6 year old and peeps in the back on snowboarding trips, so mine gets used to death, and yes it works pretty good!

I have a 2nd gen with a rear heater but same thing basically. Like others said, depends if you have people back there. I am 22 and single so the truck is my DD and I am usually the only one in it and hence the rear heater almost never gets used. But when I have people in the back they love it, especially if we were up in the mountains or out in the snow and everyone piles in and puts their feet up to it. With both heaters on it really gets the inside toasty. So if you have people who ride in the back regularly then Id say yeah go for it as long as its not a huge inconvenience. Also its good if you get your floors wet because the heat comes out the bottom of the console near the carpet and it helps dry everything out at avoid the musty smell.

i use mine alot, i also haul kids around and now that the 4runner is well sorta topless, i can use as much heat as i can get! i wonder if a rear heater from a land cruiser would fit? or perhaps put out more? i just found one on craigslist for $6o bucks.

Now mine is truck is alot newer but the concept is still the same. I have mine on all the time. I use it alot when i dont want the front blowers killing me with heat so it just heats the whole truck evenly and is a nicer ride imo. But it does help if anyone sits back there. Or if you want the defrosters on and want to heat the whole truck at the same time without getting hit with a huge wind lol.

But as stated before. It all depends on what you use your truck for.
