4runner missing then died won't start
Traded my old 4runner for this 92 that was already lifted Anyway I noticed it had a miss, the cap rotor and plugs all looked as if they had been recently replaced, I went to autozone to see if they could run the codes if it had any, they informed me they only ran 1996 and newer vehicles, so I drove it to a local mechanic shop, as soon as I pulled it in the bay it died and would not start The mechanic called me later and said he thought it was the igniter. Now from what I have read a bad coil will also kill one dead and is a hell of alot cheaper and a more common failure. How would you handle this as far as making sure your not getting shafted?

Pay a mechanic that you trust to properly diagnose the problem and repair it. If you want to make sure you're not getting shafted, be one of those suspicious customers that always asks for the old parts back.
