4runner Half door Windows!!
Have a few projects going on and between school and work just about no time. Anyways got off at 2:00 today so finally started on this half door idea I had. Had a local guy make them and I asked him to leave the window frame so i could put some snap in windows on .But change of plans my idea is to use some sort of clear plastic I chose acrylic right now but heard bad things so most likely going polycarbon, and some kind frame to hold it in and make it rain proof.
Anyways started with some cardboard as a template
Then traced it out and started cutting with a dye grinder
Then a little trimming made a good template because it was a very snug fit
Here is how it looked when i stopped today still putting in a frame not really need since it fits so tight but still plan to do something. Very happy with it right now.
PS there is still plastic over the acrylic it not hazed or scratched just wanted to leave it on until am done.

Nice, but dosent this kindof eliminate the usefullness of half doors? I'm assuming it won't just pop out, without breaking, and let you climb out over the door. It looks like your back to opening the doors whenever you want out.

Excellent idea!
Looks like something that is light weight, can be brought with you easily, and can be put on in the event of an unexpected downpour when you are farther away than a few minutes from home. Highway speeds, and heavy rain can be miserable for a long run.

Got the door done test drove and no rattling or anything. Very happy with it and i think a better alternative then paying 200 bucks for snap in windows. I payed 30 dollars for supplies and could have both doors done in one day if i ever had a whole day off:rolleyes:
