4.88s + Aussie Progress
Finally got around to putting in my new 4.88s and Aussie
I'm about to head out to the shop to have the pinion depth set.
More pictures to come later, I'll keep you guys posted on hows its going. Can't wait to drive it. Moyie mud bogs next weekend!
Only problem I've had so far is I ignored the advice on how heavy the damn thing was and dropped it on my chest. There were a few choice words at that moment!

They really arn't that heavy. Ive noticed they are more awkard to get out of the housing than anything. especially when you are laying on the ground underneath the truck.
Im sure you will be happy with the setup.

I must have read and heard "careful not to drop the diff on your chest" a million times and I even did it a few times.
When I did my Aussie and 4.88 swap sure enough I pulled the diff and dropped it square on my chest!

While the diffs are in the shop getting set up I put on AALs, BJ Spacers
And upgraded the braking system with:
New calipers from '95 4Runner (4 large piston type)
LCE Slotted Cross-Drilled rotors
HAWK Premium Pads
She outta stop pretty good now too. Cant wait to try everythign out.

So my truck is an '88 4Runner, I bought '94 4Runner Calipers, and Hawk pads for the same truck, along with LCs rotors, all for a '94 4Runner. A good 1/4'' of the pad stick out over the top of the caliper, useless, WTF?

I just fell in love with my truck all over again. The gears made a night and day different. Way quicker off the line, not only can I use 5th gear, I can accelerate in it!
Havent gotten to really use the locker yet since I'm breaking in the ring and pinion. So far its barely noticeable that its there. Girlfriend barely noticed it.
However I do believe I'm in need of a larger MC, as my brakes suck. I upgraded to larger calipers, and adjusted and bled everything 100 times, and my brakes still are weak. New MC?
