3vze NO spark from coil

I was driving my 1988 toyota 3vze and went through a small puddle like 6 inches deep and about 2 minutes later the engine just died. I thought it may have gotten water somewhere like the air box or distributor but no water anywhere in the engine bay. On attempt to start it sounds horrible like it's not getting any spark. I've tested the coil plug wire that goes to the distributor and I'm getting no spark. I've also checked the coil and there is no juice (power) getting to the terminals or the power clip. Starter and main fuse box by the battery are getting batt.
At the distributor harness I've tested the G-/G1 @ 324 ohms, G-/G2 @ 324 ohms and G-/NE @ 164 ohms. Per the manual the first two tested ohms are way high (suppose to be about 150-200 ohms, the third was okay @162ohms) Does this mean my distrubutor unit needs replaced? Or is there a way to fix the faulty parts (pickup coil/signal igniter) in the distributor assembly?

Help! Is there anything else I should check before going out and spending $150-$200 on a new distributor just to have it not be the problem link. I've read about faulty MAF/VAF. Anyone care to share easy way to check the MAF/VAF to make sure this isn't the problem? I've also read about faulty coil/igniter as the distributor must send a reading to the ECM to fire the igniter in turn to send spark from coil to the distributor. If someone can give me a check list on the easy steps to take to find out why the coil is not sparking it would be appreciated. Thanks

Okay so I got down and turned crank pulley manually to find by my helper the distributor was not turning. I tore the front of the engie down to find the timing belt was snapped!
So now I'm onto doing a timing belt, water pump and was told I should also do the idlers as they may be worn. I've definitly done some reading up on this job as previously I almost had to do it when my fan pulley bracket sieved in February but the belt appeared fine with no cracks or notches but obviously it was time to replace it. So now I have another question HOW CAN I FIND TDC? I spin the crank shaft clockwise but the rotor doesn't spin since the timing belt is off, Any help to do this correctly and easily is appreciated so when I match up the marks for timing it will be on the marks as needed? Can I manually turn the camshaft to match up with the crankshaft?

Well Timing belt is done! I got it all together and started right up! The only thing I notice now is it's louder in the front of the engine (The timing belt/.) sounds like a whistle upon acceleration. Any suggestions? Did I get the belt on to tight?

I know this is an old post but I was having trouble finding info on the dizzy for the 88 3VZE, lots on 89 and up...anyway. I need to test the pick ups for ohms and I see you did. I have 4 wires from distributor to the green plug. They are green, yellow, white and red...so what color corresponds to what?

Thanks in advance!

The distributors look different but electronically they are the same. Pull the cover off and see what wires go to which sensor. Use the factory service manual for pictures.

Hi smithy, do you still have those parts you've mentioned above? My name is Gilson from Brazil. Here is too difficult to find parts for my old 1995 atm 3.0 v6 3vze 4runner, can you help?

BW wires

Have a 1995 3.0 v6 atm 4fs 3vze engine. Solved a short circuit at injectos harness and after that no more sparks from coil. Disassembled the harness and for my surprise, there are no BW wires coming from harness to voil and Igniter as shows the attached pic. In my car they just connect the Igniter and coil with one short wire. But the photo shows 2 wires coming from inside the harness .
Can anyone please help figure out where these BW wires are connected on the other end of the harness. Here I see them coming out of the harness and connected one to the COIL and the other to the IGNITER, but I don't know where they come from or they are connected to.
