Yes, but they're harder to find than the sexier Supra motors.

3vze's havent been put into trucks for over ten years now. Finding a low mileage original motors not gonna be easy. not sure if 3vze's were sold in japan. all the surfs i remember seeing were diesels though...

this interested me when I saw it, and I started looking around wondering if the 22R was available like this.
found JDM Engine Corp. never done any business with this group, nor do I know much about this whole imported Japanese Engines business, but they have a couple of 3VZE engines. just skimmed quickly. not sure it will work for what you need, but they do seem to be out there.

the only bad thing that ive heard about JDM engines are that they may be low mileage but if they were used in any typ of service (police, EMT ect....) they leave them running ALL the time, so its still got LOTS of hours on the motor just low miles on the vehicle...

Our import rules into Canada are much less stringent than in the US. There are plenty of low mileage Hilux Surfs rolling around here. Granted, most are diesel, but there are some gas ones that get imported, too. These vehicles are 15 years old and typically have less than 100 000 kms (62,000 miles) on them because the Japanese simply don't drive much, given the size of the country and solid rail service.

Theres actually a law in japan making it illegal to be parked and have your engine running for an extended period of time

Be careful of JDM corp, the whole reason for this post is because I actually bought an engine from this place because they seem to be the only ones who had some.

Long story short everything seemed kosher looked clean and my mechanic installed it, he tried to fire it and a foot and a half geyser shoots out the radiator fill neck, my mechanic pulls the #1 plug and it shot water out the cylinder, not good. Obviously the headgaskets are toast and it never even turned over making it a probable low compression engine, So i call them and tell them what happened and they said in a nutshell, "too bad your mechanic did something wrong and your not getting a refund" even though im strictly following your return policy, i just want my money back and they're basically ignoring their own return policy, I'm in the process of faxing them the itemized problems with the engine and on monday will call again and ask for the owner on the phone if he blows me off and wont accept the engine back to see for themselves, well then the BBB and a lawyer gets the next 2 phone calls, unbelievable.

I will keep you informed and hopefully they will clear this matter up and be gentlemen.

Yes the 3VZE was made and designed in japan. Most all 4runners from about 99 and other were made and imported to america. Thus, yup japanese. They were not made for a long period of time like the 22r so its harder to find them. They were not as abundant in japan as they are here but they are there.

ah, no way man!
that sucks!
eh, try to keep your composure, keep making notes and fully document your case. documentation is your friend in situations like this. I've also found that being cool tends to keep these situations from escalating to the point where you end up being screwed.
