3vze Auto tranny ATF capacity?
I'm curious for those who have drained the ATF out of their 3vze equipped auto tranny & transfer case if you could relate your experiences with exact fluid capacity for your refill? I'm just trying to get a gauge for how accurate the owners manual is in this regard. I don't own an auto, just doing this for a friend. The owners manual specs that the capacity for the auto tranny (A340H if I'm not mistaken) is "up to 4.8 quarts" and for the transfer case is 1.2 quarts for a dry fill, and 0.8 quarts for a drain and refill. So I'd reckon 6.0 quarts of ATF (because the transfer case uses ATF) should be perfect? Or is it slightly more?
Thanks.
Thanks.

You might need a little more than 6 quarts, especially if you drain the transfer case sump too (center just behind the tranny pan). There are 3 places to drain from; the tranny pan, the transfer case sump pan and the transfer case itself. And 2 places to fill from; the tranny dip stick tube and the transfer case fill plug.

If I am doing this at home, is there any way that I can flush the auto tranny? I will be switching from reg to synthetic ATF. Do I need to take it to a shop for the changeover?

Yeah, there is a home flush method, that's what I'd do, but I woudn't drain more than 2 quarts at a time. There have been lots of threads about it on here.
