OK going to be getting new tire in a week or so, but not quit sure of what to get. I'm now running 31". Also keep in mind I have a 3.slow Auto 4x4 with no lift kit. All Stock. Just wondering what you guys think . Also my rims are 15X7. what will fit best on thease rims. Looking for a good look, but do-not want to bog down or strang engine my rig in doing so.

I think the best setup is a 33x10.5 tire. Look around, lots of people are running them.

32" is the biggest you can go with zero mods. 33" and higher you'll need to do some mods.
3.0 comes stock, bogged down.

If you have an auto tranny & stock gears, going to 32/33's is going to suck the life out of your power AND fuel mileage. Stick with 31x10.50 or you'll be unhappy.

I run 32's and stock gearing - its a little slower but managable. I use 4lo all the time offroad and start in 2nd gear. No problems. I have 1.5" lift Downey springs in the rear and cranked torsion bars to I don't know how a taller tire will fit with the stock height suspension. If it was me I would do 32 if I were in your situation but that all depends on how much loss of power you are willing to live with and how much clearance you have. Also - the rule of the thumb is that the max width you can mount on a wheel is 4 to 4.5 inches wider than the wheel which in your case is around 11 inches wide.

i love the 33x10'50's on mine ( i run stock gears 4:10 with some power mods) it does pretty good

Um, not quite. Yes you can run 33x10.50s with a stock suspension. Lots of people have done it. Look at all of tc's pictures. He is stock with 33x10.50s.

I would say stick with 31x10.50s with the 4.88s. If you go up to 33x10.50s your overdrive is going to be pretty much useless. 5.29 or even 5.71 are recommended with those size tires and the auto.

However if you are planning on lifting anytime within the next say 40k miles, now would be the time to up your tire size What are your plans for your truck first and how do you use it?

Seriously? We just put 4.88's in my brother Tacoma 3.4L Auto, and he regained mpg, and acceleration. He is running 35's. I always thought 4.10- 31-32 4.30 32-33 4.56 33-35 4.88 35-37.

That is with the 3.4. WAAYYY different power wise to the 3.0.

I have 32's with 4.10's and the 22RE M/T. Stock for 4.10 is a 28" tires, I should be running somewhere between the 4.88 and 4.56 gears for 32" (4.88 would be ideal for 33") tires. That being said, I'm not having that much trouble turning the 32's with the 4.10's. I would like the added torque 4.88's would give me, but I don't have the cash to spend on it (especially since I can't do the work myself). I don't use 5th gear anymore unless I'm going down hill, but other than that the 32's don't feel too bad.

As well, manual transmissions are a whole nother beast then the auto. Im pretty sure stock for the 3.0 m/t is 4.56. They use power alot more efficiently then the autos. Stock for the autos with the 31 tire package like keith has is 4.88. While you would want 4.88s for the 3.0 with a MANUAL to run 33s, you would want 5.29 or even 5.71s for the 3.0 with the AUTO.

I have 32's on my 3.0 auto and on flat ground and no wind i love the way it drive but going up hill or with a head wind i cannot hold overdrive so i sacrifice speed to maintain my gas milage, its a trade of but i figure why do you have to go faster to just sit down again when you get there.

Clarified it for ya. 3.0/Manual is a LOT better than 3.0/Auto. The overdrive in the auto is insane.

I would actually consider going with 30" tires with the 4.88/Auto combo.

33x10.50 will fit if you use the stock rims (or at least the same backspacing), but you'll NEED to regear (to 5.71's) or risk smoking the tranny as the torque converter will never lock up and you won't be able to use overdrive.

Yep, 30" tires would be perfect with 4.88s and the 3.slo auto.

I would stick with 31x10.5's.

The reason is because you will lose power with the larger tires as well as gas mileage, and 33" tires will only give you a whole 1" more of ground clearance, the 32's will give you a whole 1/2" of ground clearance. Not worth it for the loss of power, loss of mileage, and the loss of a bit of braking, plus rubbing issues, plus more stress on your suspension and drive train, plus you gotta now spend $$$ to avoid the rubbing issues and/or to work with the larger tires. Those meagre amounts of lift gained from the larger tires can be made up by a good driver, and do you really think there is going to be a situation offroad or whereever where you'll get by being 1" higher off the ground? I sincerely doubt it.

Some 33X12.50s are just that. Most however are between 31-32" tall. You won't be able to fit a true 33" tire with no lift if your planning on turning or 4wheelin. I have 2" of lift with OME rear coils and new torsion bars and 1.5" control arm spacers and I wouldn't even put true 33's on my ride. Plus if you jump to 33's you'll notice a power drop if you don't change gears.
