3.83 Gears?

I'm kind of keeping an eye on this truck on ebay...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyot...item27c5dc3a68

If it stays within my price range that is.

I emailed the owner and asked about the gearing since he has a lot of other stuff done. He said he had 3.83 gears in it. Since I've joined I have been reading up trying to gain knowledge. Wouldn't this be the opposite direction to take since he has 33's on the truck? From what I have been reading it seems 4.88 gears are the common for 33' tires.

1. It says it has Toyo Open Country M/T 35X13.50R15LTs, not 33's.

2. There's no way it has 3.83 gears because there never were any. The closest to that ratio on the list is 3.837, which would be 3.84. And I can guarantee you they were never found on a 4WD Toyota pickup ANY year. AFAIK there have never been any 8" axles with 3.84 gears. But it wouldn't surprise me to hear there were some 7.5" axles with 3.84 gears.

3. Even if they were 3.83s, yes, that's the wrong way to go with 35s(too high). For sure...
