3.70 gears for 89 8 inch 4WD axle?
A while back, I upgraded to a 5 speed gearbox in my truck, which changed the speedometer accuracy. Apparantly, the gearbox came out of a truck with an axle ratio of about 3.70. I've got 4.10 gears now, and the speedo reads about 10% fast at all speeds (i.e. actual 60 mph shows 66 on the speedo).
So, I'm thinking of changing out the either just the gears, or the entire third member for one with 3.70 (or whatever Toyota offered which is closest). None of the catalogs I've got offer anything in this range, all are 4.10, 4.56, 4.88 and lower for offroad use.
Does anyone know of a source for something in the 3.70 range. I'd prefer actual Toyota parts, but would certainly consider good aftermarket stuff.

My 01 4Runner came from the factory with 3.73 gears. The axle code is A02A, 340F auto trans and 225/75R15 tires. I don't know how common those gears are but you might be able to find a used 3rd.

Anyone have a good used 3.73 8.0 inch for sale or possibly trade? I have a complete 3.07 third member which was originally installed on my 89 truck. It worked very well with the original 4 speed, but was too tall after the 5 speed was installed (4 cylinder engine wouldn't pull 5th gear). Would be a very nice rear end in a truck used mainly on the highway with a V6 w/ 5speed and close to stock size tires, or 4cylinder w/ 4speed.
