3.4 swap now?

ok i found an intresting ad on craigs list. a guy has a 97 3.4 wiht 40k come with the ECU. but feels like it was sent to him by mistake, and wants to sell it for 800 bucks. as i joke i emailed and said, you help me with a 3.4 swap, i'll give you my 3.0. he said YES, and call him. but, 1, it seems a little fishy, why wouldnt he return it if he bought the wrong motor. 2 i am back at school wiht limited time, tools, and room to work. 3 i am poooooooor so to fork over money for a 1700 ORS kit seems steep...... HOWEVER, if everything is how it seems, i would be able to do a 3.4 swap for the cost of the kit.... does this seem too good to be true? should i jump on this?

edit.. heres the ad. http://sacramento.craigslist.org/pts/216747357.html

He makes reference to the years "93-97," which are about the years of the T-100 if I remember correctly. And the T-100 used a 3.0 until '95, then the 3.4.
The whole thing could be above board. Make sure 3.4 & ECU came from a vehicle with the same type tranny (auto/manual) as yours. I think all the guidelines are on ORS.

You are going to spend more money than just the $1,700 for the kit. Especially if you don't have a donor vehical. Read up on Goats 3.4 swap thread for more details on hidden costs.

If you had some $ to spare this would be a no brainer.
