3.0L rod knock repair
I'll be pulling the engine (it still runs) this week to fix the rod knock and determine if the block/crank are any good. The truck is a 1995 and I have access to a shortblock from a 1989 pickup. I think the timing belt tensioners are different. Can the shortblock from the '89 be used with the '95 heads? I hope I just need new rods/mains.

my 22re did the same it had a real bad rod knock i mean really bad and then it locked up on me but yours still runs so i would go to your parts store and get a rebuild kit comes with everything and since you doing main and rod bearings you might as well refresh the whole thing as for the heads no clue man sorry i know 22re's are all the same but not sure for the 3.0's but its not that bad doing a rebuild just take your time and do it right the first time

I would recommend that you install a crank kit. I got mine from Marshall through Rock auto and am very happy with the quality. The kit was $200. The gaskets and seals were another $300. Good time to replace the water pump and timing belt, too.
