3.0L No Fast Restart
Just finished rebuilding 3.0 for my 4Runner. It starts fine, but if I shut it down then immediately try and restart it won't. It won't start at all. In order to get it to start again I have to remove the neg battery terminal (i guess resetting the relay or the ECU causing this prob). No CEL.
If I shutdown then wait a minute and try to restart it fires right up.
Any ideas on what could be causing this?

We need some more info and maybe that's why no one has responded. The battery cable removal seems really strange and probably has nothing to do with the problem. Since you have just taken so much apart to rebuild, seems like a wire is loose. Are you still getting spark after each shutdown?
Also, these sudden, odd stops often relate to air problems. Vacuum hoses loose or cracks that have torn the throttle body rubber boot will make these engines run rough or stop. If you still have the original boot, its probably split in the creases. Very hard to see sometimes without taking it off. You didn't say if you could drive it around normally or if it has good power.

The dang thing runs fine. Drives around fine. No other symptoms. Starts fine, as long as you don't try to restart right after you turn it off. Must wait a minute, or you will have to remove the neg terminal.
Haven't checked spark before removing the terminal. Will do.
BTW why is it not good for it to start up immediately after shutdown? Engine is warm..oil is circulated, whats the problem?
