3.0 starting issue

Recently my truck has had a hard time starting. The starter is working and it sounds like it is trying real hard to start. If I pump the accelerator while continuing to start it will eventually stumble and turn over, barely.

If I rev it it will sometimes catch and stay running. If I start it and drive it immeadiately, it runs like it normally should.

It seems to me as though it is starved for fuel and perhaps the filter is clogged.

Also a little recent history. The truck sat for several months because I had problems with the master cylinder. In my attempts to fix the reason why the clutch was not functioning, I changed the throw out bearing.

Thank you for any ideas.

Justin

Since the truck sat for several months have you put new gas in it? Gas doesnt last too long without additives

I did fill the truck up after I fixed the clutch. The problem started a few weeks after the clutch was fixed. Sorry I forgot to mention that.

Done a tune-up with stock Denso Plugs? Plug wires soft, flexible, no cracks and not tracked up with carbon? Fuel filter ok? Throttle body clean?

Pull cold start injector and aim into bucket while a helper starts to see if it sprays - should spray for 2-15 seconds, depending on temp.

Can also check for vac leaks, check out tps, ect and vafm. Check for a bright blue, strong spark. If weak, check coil when hot using hot specs.

Try jumping +B and FP in check connector, turn ignition on for a minute or so to pressurize fuel lines before you turn it over. If it starts up quickly that way, then there are either air leaks in an injector or two, and/or the check valve in the fuel pump is leaking. Either can allow the fuel to lose pressure and drain out of the fuel lines and back into the tank when engine is not running. If that happens, it takes time to repressurize the lines with fuel.
