3.0 Rebuild
Hey guys i recently bought a 94 4runner with the 3.slow. And now have a typical head gasket problem, however i think im gonna rip it out and give it a once over seeing as its so much work just to get it torn down. I have been looking at some rebuild kits on ebay and was wondering whats hot and whats not? The one i saw was ITM. Seems resonable on the price 250$ any insight? Thanks, Mat

People on here will more than likely tell you to get the head gaskets from Toyota. I had 2 sets of head gaskets from eBay, a set of graphite, and a set of metal. I believe the metal ones are better. I also bought a set of pistons (ITM), rings, head bolts and bearings from the same seller. My truck is running right now, if it's any consolation. If you're going to tear it completely down, measure the oil clearance on the bearings to make sure that standard size will work. Otherwise, at the very least you will need to take the crank somewhere to get it turned, and order oversize bearings. If you're seriously going to this depth, put in new oil and water pumps.
You'll pretty much have a new engine when you're done.
