3.0 re-install tips.
I just got a rebuilt engine and am getting ready to pull my old engine out, but there are a lot of hoses and what not. My question is, are there any tips out there to help me remember where all of these hoses go when I put the new engine in?

wrap a piece of tape around each hose and a piece around the vacuum port or whatever it came from.
mark the Hose (A) and mark where ever it came from (A)
that's how i did it.
i also bagged all of my bolts. and Labeled them.
always tape all of your plugs too..the same way.

Another good Idea is lots of pictures. At every stage of tear down. Also try to get pics from different angles. I am in the middle of the same project. I hope I labeled everything adequately.

+1 on the pictures. I must have snapped a thousand pics doing my 3.4 swap and it helped a lot. It's also faster than tagging things too but not when you're putting it back together.

Photos and tags are excellent ideas, but each has its own drawback. I suggest you do a third as well: draw pictures. Figure out where each line goes, and then draw a simple stick picture showing where to put it back. You'll need to draw several angles, but this isn't the Mona Lisa. You just need to capture the "spots" with a lot of connections, and identify each one. For fasteners, you might want to measure the length of the fastener and write that down (you don't need to record the diameter; the wrong diameter won't fit!)
Tags have an annoying tendency to pull off at the worst time. Photographs require a certain amount of luck; you have to have gotten the right angle, and you have to be able to see the line you're trying to re-connect. So my suggestion is to do all three: tags, photos, and a few drawings.
I always use Yogurt containers to hold fasteners. They have a top, you can write on them with a Sharpie, and getting the containers helps build strong bones.
