3.0 no oil pressure
We where having fuel pump problems and that is fixed. The truck has not ran since Nov when my son did an oil change. We had the truck running tonight and after awhile the motor started to knock from the top end. I checked the oil and it was not hot and clean. I removed the oil filler cap and there was no oil film. I assume that there is no oil circulating as no fresh oil in the valve cover.
I took a quick look at the Hayes manual and see that the oil pump bolts on to the front of the motor. Has anyone ever had the oil pump fail?
Could there be some other problem?

Hey roger did you try to pull the codes? Did you check for leaks after the oil change. I pulled an oil filter during a change and left the old gasket on the engine so when I screwed the new one on It leaked so I tighted it with two gaskets on the filter and it had me all screwed up for a while.

No leaks and I checked the oil level first thing. I plan to installing an after market oil pressure gauge before I go any farther. My concern is what broke and if it is the drive sleeve that slips on the crank; will the crank be damaged.
The truck was idling and no problems. Then the motor stalled and after that the motor got loud from the top end. I checked the dip stick and the oil level was good but clean like it had not been circulating.

You sure that the gauge isn't off? I was having the same problem and we hooked a tester up to where the sender went and it read fine.

Ok, I went out to the shop to install an oil pressure gauge. I've had that band new gauge hanging around for ten years but could not find it. I removed a oil plug where I would install the gauge line. Then had my son start the motor. About a liter(quart) of oil dumped on to the shop floor in 5 to 10 seconds so the oil pump is working.
I put the plug back in and we ran the motor for about a minute. It was quiet and then start making a knocking noise.Thinking maybe the water pump as it is also leaking a little bit of fluid.
Going to buy a oil pressure gauge tomorrow as my son say the stck one has not worked for along time.
