Lightbulb 3.0 header solution/problem

now i was just wounderin today cause i just pulled out my 3.0 that i blew up. Instead of buying $800 headers, would it work if you cut the the exhaust manifold right before it bends behind the motor and clamp some flex pipe to it. would that be an easy solution? cause i sure cant afford headers. and this seems to me to be an easy solution, but i would like some other opinions too!

I use flex pipe after the muffler, works fine.

But, up that high in the exhaust, there is a bit of pressure in there due to the Cat and the muffler. You might have a hard time getting it sealed at the manifold.

There is also the problem of how to attach to the driver's side, it will be custom, no matter what.

Keep us posted if you do this, it would be interesting to see if it works out.

well its ganna be a mud truck so there aint ganna be no cat or muffler. i figure ill run it almost all the way out and then come out with pipe. that way i can have duels and it will be easy to manuver the flex pipe.

Its called a crossover elimination. Cap off the flange on the drivers manifold, modify the flange on the passengers to face down.

Then just get a pipe bent up that fits up there and then join it to the drivers pipe near the trans. Keep the pipe relatively small..

Usually you wear it in for at least 300-500 miles of easy driving before really beating on it/going high RPM's.
