3.0 Head gasket??????
OK..... So I have a bad gasket and a local mechanic just hurt my feelings when he gave me a price to fix.. MY QUESTION..... How hard is changing this out? Something the avg. Joe could do? I've done a couple of 22re but never a v6... its a 95 4runner by the way, thanks in advance

hi lilman I am doing the hg myself on my 95 4runner with the 3.0 engine....now I am not a mechanic and I do have a limit money to spend.......if you are good with the wrenchs, the job is not to hard. if you look in here, you can find all the help you need......I myself found some ideas to do the job easy.....take a lot of pics before and after you take something off that you might think you going to need help. also get different quotes from machine shops to have your heads check for cracks and to resurface them.......I also called differents junkyards for prices on used engines to compare what is cheaper and faster. the v6 is a little harder than the 4 cyl.

Done 4 hg's in 3 months.... Not bad. 3vze is a pretty easy engine to work on. Take your time make notes take photos and you'll be fine. Hardest part is the camshaft bolts. Once you do it once, all your friends friends will be asking you to do theirs....

The job really isn't that hard. I wouldn't consider myself a mechanic by any stretch.
The only recommendation I would make is MAKE SURE you use factory gaskets.
..you see.. I have this.. uh.. friend?... and he didn't use OEM gaskets.. and he had to do it twice in 2 months.

I've done mine, and I'll still ask someone else to do mine next time.
