3.0 fuel economy "oh oh what a feeling"
i was worried when i bought my used 93 2wd xtracab about the potential fuel economy with the 3.0 v6. ive had several 22r and 22re {all 2wd} trucks and have gotten anywhere from a worst of 17.5 and a best of 22. i was pleasantly surprised to regularly get 21 to 22 mpg with the v6 and automatic.i actually got 24.5 on a trip from san diego to los angeles and back. thats better than any 4cyl truck ive ever owned. on top of that this thing feels like a hot rod compared to any 22r ive driven. these engines seem gutless in a 4wd truck or 4runner, but my truck is quite quick. i sold my other toyotas too soon, i keeping this one untill the wheels fall off or 500,000 miles whichever comes first.

yeah I stepped up from a 22re and I dont think the 3.0 is lacking much at all. and I get about 19-20 mpg / I have yet to be over 20 though; my foot would be the issue. I did the airbox mod and it helps the engine hurts my foot:-)

'95 4Runner, 3.0, auto, 4.88's, 31's = 19 mpg around town (seldom any highway driving) now that it's warmed up here (high '90's, low 100's right now).
It was 17.5 ~ 18 until it warmed up here.

Personally, I think that's pretty but alot of people swear by it.
I think the ISR mod is more worthwhile...

94 3.0V6, 5spd, i got about 15.7 half hiwy half local. i don't know the gear thou, but i'm running on 3rd gen tire/rims, 31/10.5/15, and with correct speedometer readings. oringinal tire size is 275/65/15(door jam sticker says it).
it only has 130k oringinal miles on it, i have changed bunch of stuff trying to get better mpg. so far, it has new K&N filter, new pipe, Cat. Conv., muffler, front O2 sensor, NGK plugs, new distributor cap, rotor, wire, timing belt, etc.
it still sucks.
