3.0 EGR Removal and Idle questions
I know there are a lot of threads on the EGR Removal but I have not found the answer to this...
I removed the EGR on my 88 3.0. I made plates out of 1/4" plate and used the proper gaskets, etc. Now, my truck will idle, or try and idle, really really low. Around 300 RPM sometimes lower. It runs fine at higher RPM. My guess is something with vacuum lines.
Any ideas?

I pretty much just used the stock vacuum lines and looped them together. So no, they arent plugged but they arent open either.
As for the idle, its just super low. Thats all it does.

was the egr bad before hand? Did you have a super high idle before, and used the idle adjuster to turn it down, and then forgot to set it back?
Basic stupid things that I always find myself chasing, as I am extremely forgetful...lol

That sounds like something I would do. I have had this truck for awhile now and I can't remember if I messed with that or not. Is there a way to turn it back to stock just to check it?

Alright the truck is still running rich. I guess I could try the 02 sensor? Looking at partstrain.com there are a couple different ones included a performance one saying it will increase engine performance? For some reason I don't believe it. What do you guys think? Any way to test the 02 sensor first?

Ok I found the problem and feel pretty dumb, just glad I found it...
That bolt was removed when I removed my EGR. The whole goes all the way through the intake and was leaking very badly.

I dont recommend using that bolt hole for seafoam. It sucked in too fast.
Boostin, you would have noticed your truck idling like crap if it was missing.

Weird. With that bolt mia my truck (sorta) idled better when warm. It was in the mornings when it wouldnt idle. It wouldnt even start with the TPS plugged in, I had to unplug it so it would rev higher and actually start.

Yea, when I unplugged my TPS the truck actually ran worse. When I would go up hill the car would not idle past 3000rpms and just had no power what so ever. I am hoping replacing the TPS fixes my issue so I can start to actually mod the truck.
