The 3.0 4Runner MPG Thread

I thought it would benefit some of us if I created a thread about real MPG figures from 3.0 4Runner's and their driving conditions and such.

Heres the format:
'95 4Runner 4.88 Gears Auto Tranny

Avg: 12.7 MPG
Range: 202.9 mi

43 miles a day

Stop and go traffic all the time

Airbox mod
Mobil1 fluids
31x10.50 Goodyear Wrangler RT/S

Cold winter here, so dense air and winter mix go into play, plus using the heater all the time, and the defroster, plus a little bit longer idle times.

Whats yours?

Don't know the gearing, but the rest of the specs are in my signature. Speedometer is slow by about 1.5 mph

14-16 MPG stop and go 210+/- mile range

20-22 MPG highway calculated 275+/- mile range

no engine mods yet

MPG is in my sig, but I'll explain figures just because there isn't anything better to do.

13-14MPG City-I've tested this quite a few times.

18-19MPG Highway(mostly)- Highway, sidestreets, limited in town driving, I test this constantly.

Best MPG:20 (officially) Unofficially 21, I reset my tripometer a little late, and topped it off before driving it again, but I do know how much I put in, and about how far I missed from not resetting sooner.

Worst MPG: 11-12. Anything under 13 is a little fuzzy, mostly because when I'm getting that kind of mileage, it quits being fun.

Average Range: 260-280

Best: 326......and I put 16.7 gallons when I filled it up after that(tank capacity is 17.2)

Worst: 210

Perfect conditions: 18 mpg around town and 19-20mpg on the highway (nothing in the bed and just me in it). I have 4.10 gears and run 31s with the 5 speed and manual hubs.

If I have somebody with me and 1/2 a cord of wood in the back, coolers, tents etc I get about 14-16mpg.

The 22Rs can't be getting much better gas mileage. Can they?

Andy

'94 4Runner 4.88 Gears AT

Avg: 14 city, 19 hwy
Range: 240 if I really drain the tank

14 miles a day

commute in town, kind of stop and go traffic

Snorkel, OEM air filter
Exhaust is original until past the cat
New O2 sensor a week ago, so my numbers may go up
Castrol High-Mileage 10W30, OEM filter.
32x11.50 BFG All Terrains

It has been pretty chilly here for Albuquerque, but it doesn't get that far below freezing for very long. I also could correct for the larger tires, but I haven't bothered since the speedo is only off 2 to 3% compared to my GPS.

OK here goes...

I'm one of those crazy canucks, so everything is in KM

very few mods to mine. Cat's cut, got a "performance muffler" About 250000 KM on the motor. Just did head gaskets last weekend, and shortly before that the O2 sensor.

Last tank clocked int at just over 333 KM...to BONE DRY

4" lift, stock diff's (4.10 for an 89 3.D'oh if I'm not mistaken), 31 X 10.5R15's

Filled it tonight, so we'll see what kind of a difference a slightly shaved head and new gaskets all around make.
