3.0 to 22re swap questions

OK so my DD is an 89 22re 5spd, I wrecked it a week ago and found a super clean 88 sr5 3.0 Automatic for 200 bucks, last time in the road was in 2003. The top half of the 3.0 is gone , I am taking all powertrain out of my 89 and putting it in the 88.
Questions are as follows

1. Will the motor mounts in the 88 work or do i need to cut and weld in new ones?
2. i know all wiring on the engine side needs to come out of the 88 along with the ecu, Does anymore wiring need to come out?
3.will interior dash on the 88 work with the 89 since one it auto and the other is manual?

Im sure im forgetting some questions but ill post randomly as i remember them.

Pictures to come of new and old runners

Do yourself a favor and put a 3.4 in, that will be going forward.
Ok, now that you have my opinion, I'll answer the questions I can, motor mounts will have to be cut off, change location and modified. A whole lot easier said than done, it took me days to change mine.
The engine harness and ecu will be changed, but I do not know if it will plug and play with the original dash harness.

See i would go to a 3.4 if my 22re wasnt free since i already own it and all components. Im more so concerned about the dash side of things. i feel engine bay will be straight forward.

Red face

More then likely you will need to repin the fourth ECU plug

The best way and the only way I will do any swaps is to have both the EWD`s sit down and make things work.

It is not hard with the schematics just time consuming

Every wiring harness will need to be swapped out from head light to tail light. In my 86 runner build, about half way thru, I converted a carb truck to EFI if you want to get an idea of what all is involved in doing a swap. You would need to move the motor mounts. You will need to strip the truck of the dash and interior.

Is your 89 a truck or runner? I am assuming a runner but I have see where some one has tried to make a later generation work in an earlier generation and it is just one big soup sandwich.

Welcome to Yotatech.

I dont think i would need to remove all in cab wiring harness considering they were manufactured in the same year '88 as well as both being EFI already. I finally found some swaps and they said the same thing, easiest way to do it is to remove both dashes' and swap, which is probably what ill end up doing.
The door on the silver one was put on my red one tonight for the mean time.

I could possibly see why the main dash harness would not need swapped due to the injector harness being wired correctly for the number of cylinders needed. I would think the main harness would still need to be swapped due to the automatic transmission. I am sure there is a way to just by pass the wiring for the transmission but not sure how to go about that.

From what I have learned on the main harness is there are several different part numbers for each harness of the same year. Mostly I think it just has a different part number due to the options that came on the truck such as cruise control, low level fuel light, electric window... It would not matter for what you are wanting to do, but the part number tag is located above the steering column just behind the speedometer. You might luck out and have the same part number.

How bad was your original rig wrecked?
If the frame is OK might be easier to swap the cab & Box?
(Assuming it's a 4Runner)

I was going to put the 3.4 in a 3.0 92. I was told everything you said would have to be moved. But that might not be the real deal.

Wreck was not that bad just cant put glass back in from the crinkled roof, pics are a couple posts up (The red one) as far as swapping bodies i thought about it but its just as much work if not more since the harness's still need to be swapped.
