is the only differance in the marker lights or are the wheel wells smaller on stock 2wd vrs stock 4wd front fenders

I have fronts from a 95 2wd on my 91 4wd on my 4 runner, everything lined up, markers were identical.

In your generation 4Runner, the 2wd and 4wd 4runner parts are the same. the 2wd 4runner is a "prerunner" meaning 4wd delete, so it shares all the same body parts with the 4x4.

On trucks, the fenders are completely different. The 4x4 flare out more, and the markers exactly opposite. you cannot use a 2wd truck fenders on a 4x4 truck, without modifying things to fit.

the reason i ask is becouse i already have about 6 inches of lift on my 2wd and running 30 by 9.50's planning on buying 31 by 10.50's iv got lots of clearance above my tires in the fender but on turning my current tires come close to contacting the lower corner of the fenders. looking at pictures it seemed like the 4wd's had larger fender openings, so i was thinking seems how i already have to replace one fender from an tire letting loose i was thinking of replacing with 4wd fenders. i was thinking of fiberglass flared fenders but there quite a bit more pricey than stock fenders and i dont want an huge amount of flair

I would think 6" of lift would be more than enough to clear friggin 31's. If not, the 4wd fenders should bolt right up, and he could use the 4wd marker's as well.

i have plenty of room to clear 31's other than the bottom rear corner of the fender when turning, and even that would probably clear but it would be really close. with some slight trimming i could probably get 33's under it, but i don't really want to trim.

what all would have to be done to mount an 4wd fender on my truck, do they bolt on the same, i know the marker lights are different what else are different

yours is the gray one? ya i'd swap to 4wd fenders and get some euro spec clear corners while you're at it.

They should bolt right up if they're anything like pre 89 fenders.

Looks like you are fine as far as clearance, after all, a 31" tire will only be 1/2" closer to the fender than a 30" tire. If you are nervous, hammer the pinch weld in. Since you have ifs, if the tire does scrub it won't be much, so you can use the stock fenders and just bend them out a little bit.

I'd say keep your stock ones unless you just like the look of the 4wd ones. No sense in spending more money than you need to right?

i already have to replace the driver side fender because of a tire blowout. so rather than buying 1 fender why not buy two with more clearance? and im only concerned about clearance when turning. i eventually want to go up to 33's but i would probably need another inch or so of lift or some trimming.

just sitting here thinking i wonder if i could place an jack behind the fender and flare it out an few inches, maybe i will try that before replacing any fenders if it works on the passenger side ill just get another 2wd fender for the driver side and do the same thing, any thoughts?

i doubt it will work. isnt much metal there to flair out. your best but it to get some 4x4 fenders. have you done the pinch weld mod yet? if not look into that also.

what kind of lift are you running on your truck?

i see this is an old thread but thought id shoot in the dark and see what happens. ive got a 2wd 87 toyota pickup and have thrown on some 4x4 fenders. yesterday i attempted to throw on the front bumper and ran into some clearance issues with the front outer bolt tabs (the ones right below the fender arch right where the arch starts in the front) being too far out. when doing this swap is it common to trim down those tabs or even maybe remove them completely to allow the bumper to mount properly? thanks in advance

i ended up trimming down the tab and mounting the bumper. everything still fits as it should. i didn't worry about making a new mount for it as it was plenty solid as it was.
