2wd Turbo pickup??

Did toyota make a 2wd turbo pickup?? There is one for sale around here for $800 and I didnt know if toyota made one? The guy says the turbo is going out, but I dont know? Could it be a diesel??

1989 Toyota Pickup DLX, 22RE, 5-spd, 5-in SAS, Detroit back, ARB front, longs, 37/13R15 Boggers, Marlin front and rear bumpers, Marlin sliders, Ramsey Patriot 9500 winch with synthetic line, Hi-angle D/S F&R, diff breathers, rebuilt tranny, 22RE bored .20 over completely rebuilt (it feels great to not have to buy 2 cases of oil a month!!), whole truck built in memory of my dad (RIP 6-26-08)

I've heard rumours of a few 85 turbo trucks, but never seen one personally. And, I can't imagine why they wouldn't have made a 2wd turbo.

Check the VIN plate. That'll confirm it with you.

They did make 2wd turbo trucks.

Pretty sure they didn't come out till early 86 though.

Yes they did. I work at Lowes and a guy pulled up in one. It said Turbo on the front fender and not ever seeing one before I chuckled at the faded out red paint and like 12" wheels and doughnut tires, and asked "is that thing really a turbo?" The gentleman replied with a a laugh "yup sure is." We talked about it for a while and he showed me under the hood the small yet functional turbo and proceeded to tell me that it was actually surprisingly fast for what it was.. mainly on the interstate. It was kinda of an extended cab with the little skinny rear window but no back seats.. All in all it was a pretty cool truck that I'd never seen before.. So sorry to be so thourough but YES indeed they did make a turbo truck.. hah...

Uhh... that's called a 2nd gen pickup, 84-88... lol...
