Can I put a transfer case on a 2wheel drive trans or will i need to get the tans from a 4x4? planning to convert my runner into 4x4 I want to keep it auto "dont hate" its just easier to go wheelin
PARTS COST:
$100 for transfer case
$100 for transmission
$100 for front diff
$19 each for left and right cv joints
$5 each for rotors (Rotors and calipers are different from 2wd
$10 each caliper
$20 each driveshafts
$20 for the ecu

Sup guys here again so bad news on the swap can not be making it sooner than expected I just blew the head gasket on my other car (1987 nissan 300zx 340 whp) and have to fix her first as she is my priority "I LOVE MY CAR"

I think your going to need the upper control arms and all the hard ware for the 4wd torsion bar setup because if im not mistaken on the 2wds the torsion bars are on the bottom arms. Anybody else want to confirm this?

Is this for the 4Runner in your avatar? If so, pretty sure the 2wd of that gen had the same suspension as the 4x4, so no control arm, hub, or bearing changes needed. Other than needing some sort of locking hubs or ADD flanges and removing the seal/dust cover off the inside of the hub where the cv axle would go through. I guess probably the brass spindle bushing for the axle to pass through, as well.

yes sir thats the runner, but the rotors and brake calipers are thicker on the 4wheel drive runners

It'll be easier to just put a 4wd trans in and sell your 2wd one to make up the difference, swapping the output shaft in an auto requires knowing how to disassemble and rebuild an automatic trans.

you may be right but I have a friend that knows his stuff with auto trans so he might be able to help me but looks as it will be cheaper just to buy the whole thing

I want to know where you shop for parts. $10 Calipers?

I would put manual hubs on instead of the ADD system. Will be easier to installing and maintaining

good to know about the manual hubs and as for parts Mega u-pull it here in el paso T.x and a combination of other u-pull JY (we have a crapload of those her maybe over 50 or more )
