2wd diff question

do the 89-95 2wd trucks use the same 8in diff as the 4wd trucks?
my buddy is scraping a truck and i wanted to steal the carrier to set it up with gears and locker. for some reason i was thinking they might have used a 7.5 though. if it does have a 8in are there any other differences?

It should have a 7.5, but some did have 8" rear ends in them. These are pretty rare.

I "think" they have an 8" if its behind a v6. But its probably just a standard 7.5

if i'm not mistaken all 2wd with exceptions of the "1 ton" 2wds have a 7.5" 27 spline 3rd. if you're looking for lockers you can get the lock-right for the front diff of an 86-95 IFS 4x4. thats what i did in my 81

To my knowledge, mine's an 8" (rear end). Wait, that's not a great quote either...

I believe the differential on my 2wd is of the 8" variety.
