I've got a truck that I am getting and the guy I'm getting it from is going to drop a tranny in it for me. The truck is an 86 auto. The tranny is from a 92 auto but the wiring is different. He also has a manual from a first gen that would bolt right up. Im kinda new to the tranny world so would it be possible to put the 2nd gen in the first gen? Or would it be better to just do a manual swap? Either way what am I going to need to do so? Thanks

Have you searched the forums? I've never swapped an auto for a manual before. Don't quote me on this, but I believe they use a different ecu depending on which tranny they use. I believe all the "w" and "g" series have the same bellhousing bolt pattern on the tranny side. Check out this link, http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/faq/parts/ Between the link and google you should be able to figure out what will fit.
