2nd gen 4runner dash speakers
The dash speakers are shot and I dont feel like pulling the dash out to get the measurements before I buy new ones. I measured the grill and it looks like theyre 5in round.
Anyone replaced theirs?

with some nice infinity's dont remember what size but why not just take the dash apart cause your going to have to anyway. Oh and if you give car toys a call they will tell you the exact fits for your fronts

I dont want to take the dash out yet because I might have to drive it a week or so before I actually get the speakers to install and in my expierence taking the dash out of things is a PITA. Im probably going to buy them off of Ebay or something. Ill give car toys a call. Thanks for the advice

to get the best sound you should just ditch the dash speakers and get a component setup and some kick panel pods. they sound alot better because then you're speakers aren't aimed at the floor.

Sounds right the fronts arent that big. Its also popular to put them on the door instead of behind the dash as it creates better sound that way in the 4runners

I also have to agree with the infinity's they are great speakers as long as your not running to much power to them. I have found they like to blow under heavy power. Phoenix gold octane r's are good. but Focals are the s*%t. thats what i'm planning on getting.

I had the infinity reference 4" in the dash and loved them. never really got the chance to get them real loud before I started my swaps and such. I do have to say my infinity kappa 10" sub is one of the best ive ever heard. Used to have a phoenix gold amp awhile back too

BTW, i just replaced all 4. On the SR5, they were 4" all around, but I had to silicone around them because the backs were a tad small for those powered enclosures, but 5" would have been too big. I got the Infiniti 4" , (i think Kappas?). I think Best Buy must be kind of struggling, becuae the guy said if I bought 2 pairs, he would take off $20. they sound decent. If you want better, louder sound, i would suggests 6" in the doors, but you need spacers, and I have gooten lazy as I've gotten older.

Im not a fan of car toys, there amp installs are crap, they dont use the correct gauge of wire and they dont use good connectors.
Just drive around where you live and im sure you will find a car stereo place.
you could also go to crutchfield.com and look for some.
