2nd broken brake line

So a couple months back one of the rear metal brake lines (rear to drivers side drum)broke, it was a tiny leak but I got a replacement line bent up for it and fixed it. Today I was driving home and just as I'm getting home I feel the brake pedal go all the way to the floor. I get home look under the truck and the other rear metal brake line(rear to the pass side drum) is leaking.

So is this a common problem? Why do they keep rupturing? You would think the plastic ones blow before the metal ones

oh and i paid $70 for the other brake line to get bent up, should I go there again or is there another place I can get it cheaper?

Its an older model truck, stuff wears out. Still cheaper than a car payment.

Haha thats funny, I always tell people that you're either paying a car payment, or paying for repairs, and repairs are usually cheaper

Those brake lines only lasted about 20 years

Buy yourself a good quality double flaring tool (they generally have proper instructions with them), a small tube bender and a roll of 3/16 brake line from your local auto parts store and learn to make your own. It's not rocket science, you use the fittings of your old line (if they are still in good shape) or you can get replacements from your parts store and your use your old line as a pattern to make a new one. Another line at $70.00 and you will more than pay for the tools and materials that you need to make your own!
Factory brake lines might last 20 years in Ca., but anywhere where winter is harsh and they use salt or calcium on slippery roads you'll get 5 - 10 years out of brake and fuel lines. If you are lucky!

Generally, it's best to do things in pairs. If one went, the other usually isn't far behind, be they brake lines or headlights.
