2JZ update + clutch question
I did the 2JZ and turbo swap in the 4R a few years back and have driven it ever since without trouble
Now it's time to finish the project, so I'm gone mount the fuel ecu, bigger injectors, 2JZ-GTE intake manifold, hot wire intake sensor and a newer model ECU. In short, lot's more power.
I removed the engine and brought it to my tuner to double check it and maybe dyno it.
No pics yet, other than an empty engine bay.
I noticed, just before I took it out, that my OEM GE clutch started slipping at boost.
After removing the engine it turns out the clutch has had it.
I always wanted fulltime 4WD also so I'm considering changing the gearbox.
There are a few things I can do now;
Mount an R154 (got one) and make it 4WD, than use a 7M-GTE clutch for the higher torque. Prefably fulltime 4WD. Issues; new bellhouse needed, change prop shafts, stick levers, gearbox brackets, clutch actuator etc. etc.
Keep it as is (R150F) and buy a better 2JZ-GE racing clutch.
I found 2 brands of cluches: http://gripforce.com/store/index.php...roducts_id=216 and http://www.sciontist.com/ProductDeta...x?id=100007420
Anybody have any experience with these brands? Anybody know of a good high torque clutch for a 2JG-GE?
Does anybody know of a brand fulltime 4WD box, with locker, front right and read mid propshaft? (to couple to the R154)
All yota boxes I can get my hands on are front right-rear mid (LC90 or 110)or both front and rear right (LC80).

cool dude i like your runner and that engine must be fun as hell haha. not sure about the full time 4wd thing though lol
how do you like the power? i am thinking of doing a 7mge swap in my 91 4wd standard cab and i thought since you have done a similar swap i would ask you. is it a hard swap? like i dont need a turbo but i want about 230hp and be able to move 33"s and fly pretty good haha. 22re is a good engine and i feal kinda like a dick to swap it out but is a 7mge worth it and will i regret it you think?

Thanks.
The 2JZ is without a doubt much, much better.
Silky smooth, quit, powerfull and likes to rev.
I would not bother to swap in a 7M-GE, a 3.4 would be better or a 2JZ.
A little less torque and only a few dozen ponies more, not worth the effort.

oyah the 2jz would be crazy haha im guessing they are expensive though? right? and are they a hard swap into a 22re truck? if i went 2jz i would want to keep my tranny and whatnot. but 3.4 is looking good too hmmm. i know what you are saying about the 7mge though and i would build the engine a bit before putting it in, like header, port polish, bigger injectors, cool air intake and like 3" exhaust i was think would get me some pony's? lol

If you want to do all that work and add all the cost to an old high milage engine it makes more sense to use a stock 2JZ-GE. And you'd have better economy and more hp.
A stock 2JZ-GE has the similar amount off hp as a 7M-GTE ! (attleast here in Europe)

hmmm maybe. idk man from what i heard 7mge were not bad for power, i drove a sas'd 4runner on 37"s with a 7mge and it moved faster than my 22re truck on 31"s so idk lol. maybe 3.4 is better

NP242 or a FJ80 center diff is about all I can tell you... You'll just have to use the stronger off set rear, FJ40 axle if you use the 80 center diff... waaa, lol...
Well check this out... AA is practically calling the AX15 a R150/R151...
http://www.atlas-tc.com/pdf/712/712561.pdf
"The AX15 is found behind the AMC 258 and the Mopar 4.0L (242 ci) I6 engine. The AX15 is also found in Dakota trucks and is closely related to the Toyota R151 as found in the Supra Turbo and Four Runner, though the case rear halves and gear ratios vary. It is also related to or referred to as the AN5, AR5, MA5 in GM and Isuzu applications. "
The AX15 Transmission - Novak Conversions
"Transmission Compatibility & Adaptability
The Jeep 242 is found behind these factory transmissions:
Manuals
* AX15, 1988-1999 (unconfirmed)
Automatics
* F904 (909) / 30RH, 1987-2006
* F999 / 32RH (RE), 1987-2006
* AW4, 1988-2001
* 42 RE
* 46 RE
"
The Jeep New Process / NVG 242 Transfer Case
"The 242 has a driver's side front output and centerline rear output. The NP242 features two ranges; a low range gear that is a respectable 2.72-to-1 low and a direct-drive in high range. It features three drive modes; 2wd, full-time 4wd and part-time 4wd, yielding:
* two-wheel-drive, high (direct-drive)
* four-wheel-drive, high (48/52 differential torque-biased-drive)
* four-wheel-drive, high (locked, part-time)
* neutral
* four-wheel-drive, low (locked, reduction-drive)"
I'm also drawing a line from the NP242 to the AW4 or A340's and A343's in Landcruisers...

Working on it...
Heep NP242..
IIRC, there is also a "revolver" or "Over Under" for Heep cases that lets you clock them up-side-down.. All NP cases that I know of can be clocked. This just lets you keep on clock'n
It also came behind the AW4 tranny,,, oh here! :p

Also, I think there is a Hummer case that is fully off-set and fixed yoke
mmmmm, hand brake turns.... :drool:

A343F/A340F Solenoid questions - ToyotaDiesel.com
???
"You're right, the 4th solenoid of the A340H it's for the T-Case, the A343F has a shifter and also an electric motor so I doesn't need any solenoid for the T-Case.
I'm swapping my manual 3.0TD 4Runner to an auto but plan to put my current T-Case behind the R150F (Same as the V6) behind the A343F.
David"
I always liked that name...
You guys aren't saying the TC's are interchangeable, are you? And you'll have to use a centered rear diff, no?:confused:

This is also got me thinking if you can't rebuild a A340 with 95-97 Landcruiser FzJ80 Lx450 A343 internals...
