Mine rubbed on the pinch weld of the inner fender and the firewall, unbolt and peel back the wheelwell liner and you'll see it. A couple hits with a hammer takes care of it. yours could be different though, put your truck in a situation where it rubs, pop it in park and jump out and check.

I'm assuming you will be lifting it some. You will need to trim the plastic valance under teh bumper some. You will rub on the swaybar while turning (if you still have the swaybar on there) and like others said, you will rub on the pinchweld. If you have your running boards still on, you will rub on the front of those.

FWIW, I haven't pounded my pinchweld yet, but my plastic fender liner is starting to take a beating.

It was a fairly good combo and rubbing became a non issue with the body-lift

flex in the front wasn't too bad or down travel with ball spacers.

Very informational thread!

This is the exact look I am going for Herculiner and all...now I know whose set up to copy

Great Great Thread! Newbe here! I wish I would have read this thread a long time ago. Would have saved me some time. As far as rubbing, there is one thing I read about placing the spacers on the ball joints. That the tire could rub against the upper control arm. "Tires on rims with the stock backspacing of 4.75" might have tire rubbing issues with 31" or smaller tires." I plan on sticking to 31"s and buying some 16" or 17" stock wheels (take offs) for a newer model from a Toyota dealer. Just a heads up! here is the link:

First off let me explain that you do not need a lift kit to fit 33x10.50 or 33x12.50. the 10.50 will fit with no rub at all, while the 12.50 will fit with some rub, backspacing will help take care of that rub
example:

]So is this picture of a 4runner with no lift and 33x12.50's. how much rubbing is there? do you notice it with just daily driving or just when you're doing really tight turns?
thanks

Rig looks good man, always liked the look of the red 4runners and I've got herculiner on the rockers, i've thought about doing the lips of the fenders like you did too.

1" BL, bj spacers and Old Man Emu Coils with 33x12.50 BFGs. Minor rub on the pinch weld before bj spacers, I just ended up pounding the pinch weld and hitting it with some duplicolor bedliner paint to cover it up and protect it from rust. No rub now.

This one has no lift and 33x12.50's. When i did my cruiser coil/ BJ spacer lift, with just the BJ spacers and no torsion bar lift it rubbed when turing fully. Instead of adjusting the torsion bars i beat and cut the pinch and eliminated rubbing. When I drive on the streets it does not rub, but when I start flexing and what not offroad it occasionally rubs but I don't find it to be much of a problem.

Ever thought about taking the chrome trim off of the fenders, I think it would make the black on white look really good, either way i like your truck.

yea, the chrome is actually only on that side, i put it back on because when i grinded off the rust and bondoed that side, it came out a little rough on the fender edges. so i put the chrome on, but i plan on getting fender flares in the near future so...

This isn't exactly "lift" but...I called Summit asking when my Eibach springs would be shipped since they were back ordered. Eibach is no longer making their 1.5" lift coils for the rear of '90 to '95 'Runners. If the Eibachs weren't listed, oh well, but they're not available anymore unless ya get 'em used. On another note, I found that H&R makes a set that's 1.5" as well, just fyi.

i have to agree. i'm only running 1.5 inches of lift, with 33x10.5s on stock 7.5 inch wide tacoma rims. and it does not rub during daily driving.
the only time it rubs is on the front inner fenderwell lip when i am seriously flexing the suspension at full turn on the trails.
i have since hammered that lip down.

so im looking at lifting just the rear...im going to use 80 coils springs and im going to need a panhard drop bracket correct???

what size lift would match in the front.. when i do s.a.s... 3inch spring over or a 5 inch spring over???

truck is trail only and am gonna run ifs and a raked rear.. for a while.. want a real flexy rear that will be ok when i get leafs up front...
my 32 almost took out my stock bumper last trip so it needs to be done where as a s.a.s wants to be done...

the stock ifs holds its own for now unmolested..
