So if I decided to go with the 4Crawler 2" lift using the 1.5" ball join spacers and the 2 inch coil spacers, would I need to change out to a longer shock? Or is anything else needed for that matter?

yes you need their pan hard drop bracket, and you don't need new shocks right away, but you should get them soon, i recommend porcomp es9000s cheap and very good

Having owned my 4runner for about 7 years now, I have changed the suspension a few times.....here is my history lesson...
When I first bought it, Downey was the only game in town...so I purchased some 1.5" HD coils and cranked the torsion bars to match. It had very little flex, but worked ok for the trails I was running. ![]() ![]() Then the ball joint spacers were available from SDORI and I put them on, relaxed the torsion bars to factory specs, and went with 33x10.5 BFG's. It worked great, flexed ok, but the front was a little higher than the rear again. ![]() ![]() I then replaced the rear coils with some FJ80 coils, and added a Panhard drop bracket. It worked good, but the truck leaned a little due to the coils being different lengths (that is how they are). So I bough another set and used both long side coils. ![]() ![]() I ran that setup for quite a while, until the upper control arm bushings gave me issues...I ditched the IFS and completed an axle swap up front. For the rear I have basically the stock configuration with the exception of adjustable upper links, adjustable panhard bar, and OME 860 springs. Eventually I may swap the rear to leaf springs. ![]()

Hey Marc, just for the sake of this being an informative thread, do you happen to remember the heights each change gave you? What problems did you have on the upper balljoint, binding/breaking? That was with stock torsion bars at the factory preset and just a 1.5" BJ spacer?

Do I go with the 3-4" rear shocks and 2" for the fronts since the BJS's are 1.5" setup?

Understandable for the fronts, but for the rears too? With the 80 series coils they are 7 wrap sorry I should've clearified that. 2" still SR5? or 3"-4"?
Thanks for the help BTW.

Thought I would add my old 4 runner
This how it sat on 33's with cruiser coils 1.5" ball joint spacers and a 1.5" Body-lift. ![]() ![]() ![]() It was a fairly good combo and rubbing became a non issue with the body-lift ![]() ![]() flex in the front wasn't too bad or down travel with ball spacers. something people don't realize about the 4runner butt sag is that the rear fender is actually 1.5" lower on the body than the front. Check it our for yourselves, compare it to the otehr body lines. Just gives the illusion on sag. But yess some of th rearr worn springs do sag a bit, maybe .5" or so, but the fender difference just exagerates the sag.

Check out each company website for prices! its not much more than IFS lifts. and well worth it! Price varies between 400-2k and also depends on what you get from the kit

I was looking into 2" BJ Spacers for my 88 Pickup, I can clear my 33x10.50s no problem, but since shes a street queen (
) I wanted to have that little more lift. I was wondering if there are and problems with the Toytech Spacers, and the CV joint, with the changed angles and whatnot. Thanks!

hmmmmm, I don't know. 2" is a tall ball joint spacer. Unless he lowers his torsion bars quite a bit, he is going to run the risk of pushing his CV's past there range of travel. Even more so than 1.5" BJ spacers.
