On the 22RTE, what do these things do/are they necessary?

On the 22RTE, what do these things do/are they necessary?
I have some un-identifiables on the 4runner. I don't know what some of these are, or I don't know if they are necessary and I can just cap off the lines.
It is melted and runs into a bolt. What is it?
Believe this is a charcoal canister? It has a tube that goes out about 5 inches and stops. What is it? Needed?
Where does this connector go?
This appears to have the in and out line capped off but still has something else running to it. What is it?
