OK guys, I have been researching adjusting my valves for over a week now so I can do it right. I have seen a thousand write ups and youtube videos on how to do it, I have no question on how it is done BUT I have seen write ups on doing it at operating temp at .008 intake and .012 exhaust. I have also seen people saying to do the adjustment cold at .007 intake and .011 exhaust. I have seen people saying that at .007 and .011 it is a little quieter but I dont want to lose power or anything. This is my first time messing with the valves so I want this done right. I already have all the tools needed and a new gasket with 4 new grommets and the half moon seals. I'm hoping you huys could help me with this one. im most likely doing it today if I can get a quick response. im sick of bleeding oil everywhere.

I did mine hot, but I fiddled around with it so long that by the time I was done it was warm. I used the hot gap dimensions, but probably had a little more resistance on the feeler gage than typical.

Don't forget the RPG under the half moons.

Thanks man im about to run to the gas station and warm her up and get to working on it. I have a tube of high temp RTV for the half moons

hot. definitely hot. the bolts should hurt your hand while you're adjusting your valves. if it's cooled down because you spent 20 minutes scraping old rtv from the head and therefore not hot, the clearances will be wrong and you'll be right back where you started..except maybe louder (as in my case) leaving you to take it out for another drive, disassemble faster, and do it all again.

Factory service manual says to do them hot.

Did it hot and worked like a charm... still have an oil leak from the back of the engine tho... maybe head gasket (hope not) guess its time to troubleshoot.
