What 02 sensor are you running? Looks like you need to stop throwing parts at it and start trouble shooting.

Yes there is some black smoke. Still no codes. But I found a guy selling an entire efi swap of an 89 pickup. It literally comes with every single part down to all the hoses. Computer. Harness. Only problem is that he is also having a problem. He claims that the truck was running great then one day it died and now it only runs for like 10 seconds off the cold start injector. He says the injectors are not working. So he threw a ton of new parts at it and was unable to fix it. So he's doing a carb swap. It sucks I may end up with a new problem but it can't be as bad as what I have going on. Lol parts are coming this week.

I'm running a denso O2 sensor. I've tested almost every wire for a short. I've tested and adjusted almost every sensor the engine has. Don't know what else to test. Mind you the truck does not do this evertime. In regular driving on the rd its mint. But after crawling in the woods for an hr it gets screwed up. Then it runs so bad I can't even make it home to start testing it with out resetting the computer.

when you get that efi swap stuff, cut the harness open at the junction where the injector leads are tied together, it's a prime failure point.

the factory changed the wiring after the fact, it's different than what is in the schematic, and the connections that they made there corrode really badly, creating all kinds of problems... do a search, we have posted pics and info about it.

i don't see how that's a problem with your harness, but it could be with his.

So the splices are in the harness where it runs under the upper intake correct ? Only reason for swapping the harness is because mine is diffrent. Mine uses a different computer that's apparently only in 93.

if i recall correctly, the general connection area is somewhere around where the wire bundle bends hard at the turn to go under the intake... on my '86 there was a plastic 90 degree piece that the bundle was taped to(??) better search for pics.

not sure if the newer trucks have this problem, it seems like a pretty silly thing for toyota to have done.

it would be nice if the sensors all had the same plugs? not sure about that either.

i used heavy-duty shrink wrap, that had temp-activated adhesive in it, and a couple of different kinds of self-adhesive electrical tape, home depot should carry that... i also picked up a high wattage soldering gun, it heats the wires up really quickly... i also replaced the injector plugs with new plugs that had pigtail wires to solder up, ironically those pigtails used smaller wire than what toyota put on the original harness.
