Angry 22re running like complete crap (video)

Today was the first start since the rebuild, and man, was it not what i expected. she'll only start if im at least halfway into the gas, and even then, its a challenge. what could be causing this? my only exhaust right now is a header with about 4 feet of pipe so could a lack of back pressure have anything to do with it?

Check all of your vacuum lines. Check the TPS to make sure its good and adjusted properly. Check the AFM to make sure its good. A 22RE needs back presure to run properly, an open exhaust will cause loss of power and poor performance. 2 1/4'' exhaust would be the biggest exhaust I would run on a toyota. For a stock engine I wouldn`t go over 2''. Your header an straight pipe wont give you enought back presure.

yeah, i just realized i have a 3/8 inch fitting on the side pf the plenum not hooked to anything. i really hope thats the big thing. letting air past the closed throttle body, and runs like crap until i get into the throttle and give it enough fuel to match the air. makes sense to me. and the rest of my exhaust is goin on tomorrow. but i dont know how to adjust the tps or afm

Fix the vacuum leak on the plenum, that will go a long way in fixing part if not most of the problem.

man i feel stupid haha. as much time as i spent trying to figure out what connected to it, i should've known that was the problem when i tried to run it. i still can't figure out what went there, but i stuck some tape on it and she runs great. hiccups at idle, but i think thats probably just the lack of back pressure

If the vacuum port is closer to the back of the plenum its either for the PCV valve, or the brake booster. If the vacuum port is to the front of the plenum its for a breather hose coming off the valve cover.
