22re replacment
I have '90 4Runner with the 22re that has blown the head gasket. Rather then rebuilding a motor that has 190,000 miles on it I found a motor locally at salvage yard with 29,000 original miles on it and nabbed it. Motor looks really clean and had 145-150 lbs on all cylinders for the compression test. Its an 85 from a Dolphin (Toyota motor home thing). The motors appear identical except for the oil pan which will be swapped and maybe the oil pumps/pickups too. While I have the motor out I'll be replacing all the small stuff. Water pump, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, belts, hoses, etc.
Would you all be in general agreement that I should take all the sensors along with intake manifold injectors and TB off my current motor and install them on the salvage yard motor? Also, does any one know of any differences between the 22re put in the RVs and our 4wd motors that I'm not seeing? Did they run a hotter cam from the factory in these or are they simply the same motor?
