22RE Replacement, wiring questions

I'm in the process of replacing a crapped 22RE. I've got mine out including wiring harness, and i'm just getting ready to put the new motor in! After painting the engine bay i saw this piece and wondered what it was for? it has a wire running from the wiring the travels through the fender and it looked like there was another wire bolted to this small plastic thingy, but it was broke off! Any help would be great, i hate not knowing exactly what i'm messin with!

Also just wanted to clear up a few other things! The two wires highlighted in green, What are they for? i seem to think the run to the negative terminal on the battery? the connector in red had one wire running from it to the alternator which i believe is a 10SI model? Does this connector only run the alternator? Thanks in advance!

what year are we working with here (truck or runner). I've got an 87 and a buddy has an 88. Let me know what youve got and I'll see what I can figure out for you after work today.

I'm pretty sure those are alternator wires. The first one that has the box with the two white wires runnning out of it should have a "+" sign on the top, and thats some sort of in line something box for the alternator, cant describe it any better....but the other red highlighted wires look like your alternator plug, not exactly sure tho...

Sorry bout that guys, it's an 85 cab on an 87 frame with a 95 22re being swapped for a 89 22re. i've been told buy the guy who did the origanal work that he never bothered hooking the box on the inner fender back up cause he used a gm 1 wire set-up, also the reason that the alternator plug has a single wire plugged into it. But now my question is what color wire coming from the back of this plug is for the ignition switch?

you're trying to put the original alternator back in?

if so-
the red wire comes from the 15A Engine fuse, which should be hot with the key on.
the yellow wire comes from the charge light on the dash
the white wire connects to the battery

if those aren't the color wires you have on the connector, could you state what colors they are?

Well i was originally going to rig in the GM 1 Wire, but in talking to the previous owner of the truck, the alternator ran everything he wanted with ease, so i think until i toast that one i'll use it. And the brackets and belts that were on the original 22re were setup to keep stock one in place.

There are 5 wires coming from what i believe to be the alternator plug, 2 white and a red, then another white and a yellow?
