22re powersurge issue
I have an 88 toyota pickup 4wd manual 22re. I'm having this issue where the truck is kinda sluggish but when this is happening if i put the pedal directly on the floor it goes away and accelerates at a rate that seems normal. When the truck is running sluggish if i get to a hill and have it in third gear and run the rpms up to around 3200-3400 at a steady rate it will open up like it hit turbo all of a sudden. Its always around the same rpms that this happens and its like a whole cylinder just kicked in and gave me 30extra hp. I replaced my engine recently and is does the same thing with the newer engine so i guess that rules out anything like the tps or injectors. Ive also changed my whole air box MAF sensor, filter, box and all. Ive got a new fuel pump and fuel filter, new wires and plugs, cleaned my tank out and i keep my throttle body clean. I did use the same wiring harness from the first engine on this engine so thats all i can think. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Im just guessing here, but have you checked the ignition system ?, check the ignitor and the coil, maybe one of those is going bad, if you have access to another computer you might even give that a try.

Thank u for responding, i forgot to mention i did take the ignition/coil unit from the same truck i got my engine from and swapped that in as well. Also the exhaust from the header back including O2 sensor swapped in. Unless the wiring to the O2 sensor that runs under my driver seat is shorting out somewhere.
