nope, not interested. got 2 12" fosgate subs and 2 8" bazooka tubes in my runner (and other speakers too, it's not a thump thump rig- I just want to be able to hear my music over the rnb/©rap music everyone else seems to think is important) and a 400W kwood amp and paid 600 for the whole ensemble, brand new.

That's a pretty good price. Installed, or out the door?

out the door in boxes and installed by me!
the 'gate subs were 79 each, the box was 99, the amp was 249 (at bestbuy of all places) and the bazooka tubes I paid 39 each for back in 97. they were in the trunk of my firebird for about 7 years and I decided to transplant them to the runner.

the box I bought fits nicely between the forward roll bar mounts. the bazookas slip nicely into the space between the forward and rear bar mounts. the amp is mounted to the side of the box opposite the subs. the subs face rear, the bazookas fire up. I have two 4-way pioneer 6x9's in separate enclosures facing forward on top of the sub box.
the amp is a 4/3/2 channel bridgeable- I have the subs (4ohm) and tubes (8ohm) wired with one sub in parallel with one tube, then have the left sub/tube in series with the right sub/tube, then those are bridging the rear output of the amp. the 6x9's are fed as separate left / right channels off the front section of the amp. sound, mean does it seem to be wired alright to you?

It's been a few years, but yeah, reads correctly. Sounds built for more SQ than SPL

But I'm curious, why are you running your 'zooka's at 8ohm, and not dropped down to 4 to match the subs?

the drivers in the tubes are 8 ohm.
and the way I figured, with 4 and 8 in parallel, I'm above 4 ohm for the pair, and with those pairs in series, I'll have no problem with impedance to the amp. the amp's thd is better @ 4 ohm than at 2 ohm, so I didn't want to put everything in parallel 'cause I'd be below 4 ohm.

Ok.Like I said, it reads like you built your system more for SQ(sound quality) than for SPL, overall loudness......

considering I wanted to hear my music over music from someone else's vehicle, and the SPL falls off in proportion to the square of the distance, yeah, I wanted clarity. My ears are 4' from my speakers, and hopefully 8' from the next, so I can afford lower pressure levels.
now let me ask... what does -3db do for SPL?

As far I know, should do or mean nothing. The movement of the cones or woofers causes air pressure in the box.If there is no movement of the speaker, there is no pressure....at 1db,there is the tinyiest bit of movement, so pressure. At -3db, no movement of cone or woofer....no pressure. Least that's how I understand it. Hell, I haven't done anything with car audio in the past 10 years or so....
