22re o2 sensor bypass
does anybody know if there is a way to bypass a 02 sensor on a non cali 22re so the truck still functions like the sensor is there?

You would have to run a O2 simulator to make the computer think the correct air/fuel mixture is getting fed into the engine. I believe URD makes one, but have no idea if they do for the 22RE. I know they do for the 3.4. That unit would not be cheap. Plus, I think they only make them for supercharged setups, due to have to run it a little on the lean side.
Why would you not run a O2 sensor, a denso unit is only about 60 bucks from sparkplugs.com?

i already replaced it with a bosch sensor and i"m still getting the check engine light because my cat is hollowed out so the sensor isn't able to pick up the emissions like it is susposed to. i know everybody just says pull the bulb for the check engine light but i like to know when other things aren't working properly.

it's probably still throwing the old code.
otherwise, put in an OEM o2, because the bosch units are garbage.

what year is the truck? if it's only got 1 o2 your SOL you need that there for the engine to run properly.
If it's the second one, and your only getting a cat efficiency CEL (which no matter what you do BOSCH DENSO ETC ETC your still gonna get that with a hollowed cat.
I've posted on here before how to "disable" the second o2 which although is odd it actually works. It involves using a spark plug anti fouler between the exhaust and the o2 sensor.

Yeah, using a Bosch will not work and that may be the only problem. Here are a few reports of problems with those sensors:

I think there's a good chance that a Denso direct-fit (Amazon usually cheapest) will work, even with a gutted cat. I remember thinking from reading about the ecu logic on that sensor that it wouldn't detect a bad cat, so having a gutted one may not be a problem.

right but since he's not telling us what code it's throwing he's not gonna get accurate info. I have to assume this is an OBDII 96+ truck. But it's it the wrg section for that and he did say it's a non-cali truck. But dos that mean is a FED and not CALI emmisions or does that mean t ruck isn't in CALI and doesn't "need" cal emissions. I am not sure if th95's and below non-cali or even cali emissions trucks had that second downstream sensor. Or is he talking the upstream one?
People need to put more info on the trucks so the ones tryin to help them out don't have to troll threw their other threads to figure out exactly what they are working on.
BTW O2 sims are only for downstream sensors as well as my spark plug anti-fouler trick. And CANNOT be used on upstream sensors that control A/F ratio. Which are the ones I believe people have the Bosche versus Denso O2 problems. And a gutted cat would have no affect on the upstream sensor.

Oh yeah, I missed that - not a CA truck so the cat is totally irrelevant. Rusty, you're talking about bypassing the O2 sensor??? How's the computer going to set mixture????? That's a computerized fuel injected motor you got there, as in, the computer controls the fuel. And that computer needs a working O2 sensor. Otherwise, it will run the motor in open loop all the time, the warm-up mode that runs the motor too rich, totally gunking the plugs, pistons, valves & heads with lots of excess carbon. It'll run terribly, get terrible gas mileage, and you'll eventually have a real problem with the carbon buildup. Toss that bosch and get a denso direct-fit, if you want it to run right.
