22re Master Rebuild Kit?!..

Hey whats good? Quick question. . . I got a 1987 4runner sr5 4wd, my 22re has 272,XXX miles on it. I was thinking if i should do a rebuild kit on it or not. Lemme know what you think. Where i could get a good Master Rebuild Kit or what?

Thanks.

Engbldr has great kits.

but if the engine isnt presenting any issues why go to the time and expense of a rebuild.

A compression test or leakdown test (preferred) would let you know if there are any problems. Also checking the radiator for bubbles can give away head gasket issues.
At least pull the valve cover off and look down the distributor side of the engine and check that the timing guide is still there and that there are not any grooves in the timing cover. Though there are people that have timing chains last a long time, they do wear out and the common opinion is they should be changed at around 75-150k miles (yeah I know a wide mileage spread).

Thanks ill have to check that out, the leakdown test and the timing guide. . .

Also when it hits around 2500 rpm there is this loud squealing noise, I can't seem to pin point what it is. I checked for a loose belt and it aint that. Could it be a pulley or just a dry fan belt?
