Unhappy 22re loss of power, sluggish

i have a 94 pickup 22re and im trying to track down an issue with it loosing power and acting sluggish until i really step on the pedal and it roars to life. the other day after driving non stop for about 45 the thing just started sputtering really bad so i pulled off the road and it died on me! i hopped back in the truck after about 10min of tryin to find out what was wrong with it and it started right back up and i got home with no problems. i just got done adjusting valves fer the hell of it while i had the valve cover off to make sure the timing chain didnt skip a tooth or something of the sort (all valves seemed a tad bit too tight or a little loose, but i dont think thats whats causing my sluggishness but who knows) Well i played with the timing chain and is seems to have a little slack in it when i pull up on it at the top of the cam sprocket, is this normal? or should it be tight to the point that im not able to move it? My main concern is when i stuck a screwdriver down in there to push the chain away from the guide, the guide moved on the bolts holding it to the block, the guides look brand new but i can move both guides back and forth, are they supposed to be able to move a little or have the bolts come loose? Thanks fer any help

list of what ive done to attempt fix.....
Heat fuel treatment
Pro clean fuel injector cleaner x2 cans
New fuel filter
New fuel pump out of donor truck
New fuel pump relay
New plugs, i have new wires, cap and rotor im going to install tonight
Im also going to check MAF and TPS tonight
New pvc valve and grommet
New shortened exhaust (replace cat with new high flow muffler 2in to 2 1/4 being as there is only one o2 sensor in front of where the cat used to be
Spectre k&n imitation cold air intake

A little slack in the chain is normal, a loose guide/bolts is not normal but would not cause your issues.

I am assuming since it wasn't mentioned that you have no check engine light on right?

there is no check engine engine light and all cylinders read 185psi exactly across the board (just checked)
thats really wierd that they seem loose and they both have exactly the same amount of slack in each guide, thats why i thought it must be how they are supposed to be

i meant i wasnt sure if the bolts were loose, but i could move the guides like the bolts might be loose, i dont have anything long enough to stick down in there to see if there snug, this is why i asked if they are supposed to be able to move back and forth a little
