22re LC Engineering Metal Timing Chain Guide Question

this is for my brothers (hyperlite) 88 4Runner rebuild.

Got the 22re Metal Timing Chain Guide from LC Engineering. which is made in Taiwan #759ND 13561-35020-1. the guide is really nice with some sorta rubber coating so the chain isnt rubbing the metal.

the timing chain is really tight and rubs both sides of the guide...... there is an ajustment but it is as loose as it gets.

anyone used one of these guides as the engine is now fully together and to adjust/change it would mean tearing the motor all the way down again which i dont wanna do.

thanks for the help

If the chain is really tight, how does it rub on the passenger side guide? It should be a straight shot. Does it rub more now that it did before?

You payed a premium for an LC part... My suggestion is to talk and talk to their "tech" line for some immediate attention. There isn't any way to "adjust" without removing that timing cover.

the passenger side is touching down near the tensioner. The passenger side is the more curved on correct? There is no otherway it can go on. The driver side is my main concern.

Let me know if these photos answer your questions:

They were taken from a how-to guide online.

4 calls to LC and we (me and LC) came up with taking a screw driver and bending the guide away from the chain. After a few prods and pokes it is sucessfully out of the way.
It is a good pruduct, expensive but good quality.
Gotta love paying American prices for Taiwan products...

Passenger or drivers side?
Personally, I would call it a @#$@ product, especially at the price you paid for it if you've got to "bend" it to make it fit.
I've used several of Ted's metal backed guilds and I've never had an issue like that.

Doa

I can't beleive you guys are in Mooresville, NC and don't know Tim Jenkins.
You guys should contact DOA Racing before even talking to LCE. His chain
guides are awesome and a great price.
