22re engine problems help!!!!

ok im a newbie on this and im on here to research for my dad. my dad has a 1989 toyota pickup with the 22re and its already been rebuild 2 times before and now again it overheated again. these are the things thats happening. overheating, coolant leaking, white steam smoke from tail pipe, oil looks creamy so im guessing that the head gasket blew. i am looking to attempt on replacing the head gasket but im wondering why it did this so fast when the engine just been rebuilt 10 months ago and with about 10k on it so far? help me out here guys. im looking to replace the head gasket but what else should i replace to not make this not happening again? hopefully the engine is not mess up. meaning the block and head.

The head or block mating surface warped? Is the head or block cracked? What exactly did the two "rebuilds" involve? I'd personally cut my losses and get a replacement motor. Why bother when 22R's are everywhere.

how was the head surfaced?

Belt Sander OR milling machine?

Was the block checked for flatness?

My guess is that the head needed to be skim cut and wasnt flat enough.

Oh yeah - use an OEM gasket set...

Check your water pump housing. The timing chain some time wears a hole in the back of the case causing water to leak into the crank case. You can pull the water pump and see if that is your problem. Alot of people have that problem and it often gets mistaken for a blown head gasket.
